Bulkeley High School Wins $20,000 in the Second Annual Live Green – Win Green Contest

The Bulkeley High School team.
Students at Bulkeley High School in Hartford will soon be seeing major environmental improvements at their school thanks to a $20,000 grant from CL&P. The school was the winner of the 2009-10 Live Green – Win Green contest, which encourages students to consider projects to make their schools more environmentally friendly.
Eight students in Deborah Davis' Advanced Placement Environmental Science class submitted a video and essay outlining their plan to implement "green" projects at Bulkeley High. The students will use the grant to start a recycling program, install energy efficient lighting and promote the use of recyclables in the cafeteria.
Conard High School in West Hartford, Staples High School in Westport and Wilby High School in Waterbury were selected as runners-up, each earning a $5,000 grant for their future environmental improvements.
